RE: US69 in Ok

I took 69 going South through OK the first week in Oct. I thought It was fine.......except the bad gas at a pilot station close to the TX border (clogged fuel filters). I have went the Indian turnpike twice. Never again due to roughness (several years ago). Andrea

RE: First timer in Texas

The mention of Magnolia Beach made me remember that if you get a permit at the grocery store you can park free for one month. Walking to tiny town. Palacios has now shut down the nice city park (strange......I loved it) but you still have Serendipity RV park.....sites on Matagorda Bay and Palacios is a wonderful quaint little shrimping town. Not enough time to see all the great places on the coast. I talked to a lady on the phone last week and she said Palacios did not have huricane damage.

RE: First timer in Texas

I just came into Corpus Christi this Friday to stay on the NAS for a few days and get a few things done. The last two weeks I have been on North Beach of the National Seashore. Beautiful weather except for one day and it was high tide warning. You MUST check the tide predictions for warnings so you can leave in advance. I go to the huge parking lot of the visitors center and stay the night. (high tide was for one thirty am) The tide info is on tv, radio, internet, information line by telephone for Park service. I have both cell service and internet on North Beach. I drove over to South Beach, backed up and turned around it was emtpy and torn up. Their are volunters who have been coming to do clean up work as the debri from huricane Ike keeps coming in. Things like doors and tables. North Beach is the safest.....many local people come to fish....day and night and the Park Ranger comes by once per day. I used to camp in years past on South Beach but the sand is torn up by oil tankers and I was stuck once during a wind storm. I think the wonder of the National Seashore should be seen if possible. How can a "RV park" compare? Good luck and have a wonderful time. Andrea ps I have been the only one camping so far on the beach this time.

RE: Blowing Out Water Lines with 12 Volt Water Pump

I always use anti-freeze after blowing the lines with the water pump. I am trying to see if other RVer think that it will lead to premature pump failure by running it dry from using it to pump the lines. Like I had stated, it only takes about 30 or 40 seconds to pump all the lines over 3 or 4 minutes. So far it seems that 3 out of 3 seem to think that it will not hurt the pump. I have been using the pump only for the eight years I have had Inga. She is nineteen years old and original pump. Never put antifreeze in lines.

RE: Bad gas alert....

HI Andrea Do you recall the town & the exit #. THANKS for the info. Just got back on line. It was further up then I thought.......it was highway 69 ....my receipt says Muskogee, OK. ...store 259. I bought almost a full tank... Inga is starting to stall again.....I need to call around for a Napa here in Corpus to get new filters and find someone to put on. I am going to relax on the beach for a few days first. I am the only camper.

Bad gas alert....

I filled up at a Pilot truck stop....just before crossing into Texas. Both filters clogged and I not quite broke down on I 35 going into Ft Worth. 5 mph and emergency blinkers on....down ramp into tough area. On second day I paid a man to go to a Napa for the part number filters I needed. Then he changed them for me and I made it out of city and Inga is okay now. I had tried gas tx but would not help. Corpus Christi (according to news last week) is flooded with people being towed in because of bad gas since the hurricane. It ruins the fuel pump (besides clogging the filters) My fuel pump seems okay....... Andrea

RE: Cold feet....in slow motion....

The "big puppy" and I took off on Sunday. I only went 120 miles and then stopped for the night at the far end of the parking lot at a nice travel stop. I was just worn out......Rommel is happy with his new bone resting on the bed in the back. This morning I just woke up in the WalMart parking lot just off the interstate in Bethany, MO. I had the new commode installed last week at Camping World in MN......water has slowly dripped out the bottom of the motorhome so fresh tank is almost empty. Thankful"just in case" kind of person and have three full 5 gal water containers. I always worry about water for Rommel. I will swing into the Camping World in Denton TX just off the interstate and stand with big dog insisting they fix the leak if I have too!!!! lol I know I would have been very sorry come Jan if I had stayed home in my nice safe house!!!!!!!!!!1 Blkboots.....long time no hear (from other boards....) I was up in the Superior National Forest for three weeks this summer boondocking by a crystal clear lake with the call of the loons. Rommel like the deer but growled at what I think was either a bear or wolf lurking...lol I must have looked like a lost soul in WalMart last night cause a clerk insisted he "walk" me to the items I needed to buy...... All in all I am glad I left and can hardly wait until we get to the Corpus Christi area and the coastline. My old Dell computer is dying so don't know when I can get back on line again. I have an almost new MacBook but it does not have an aircard slot for my internet card. I read that Corpus now has free WiFi for the city...????I can use my Mac then if need be. GTDANE...go to Fl....you will be sorry if you don't. Safe travels to all.....Blkboots send me a pm if you can get back to MN this coming summer!!!!!! Andrea

RE: Cold feet....in slow motion....

Someone here asked if I was lonely? No....but was feeling "alone" yesterday. Shirley said it would help to be around like minded people (RVers in Texas).......I know it would help.....but also putting my head in the sand so to speak I think. Yes, I was physically and mentally tired when I did my OP.....but the fact remains my heart is heavy. Today I think.......I was smart enough (and hardworking enough) to get through college Science classes and then nursing school BUT I was not smart enough to know something I just found out......the Federal Reserve is not our government........The Federal Reserve Bank is owned by private families. The Rothschilds for example. I was in shock.....I did things out in Inga yesterday and thought How dumb dumb I am. I do not really know or understand so much. I should have been responsible enough to have read more.....no it is/was easier for me to go camping "my love". I am still at a frozen impasse.......my thirty something professional neighbors seem to be having problems ie forsale sign on extra car, boat and motor stored behind the garage and the 3 young boys shooting baskets instead. Dad laid off for 2nd time this year. I thank everyone who has given me encourgement. It has helped much!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully our world will become better.....I know Shirley is right about me feeling happier on the beach with my dog.......I just may post a picture from there in the near future if I can keep my courage up.

RE: Cold feet....in slow motion....

Just a feeling of "gloom". Truthfully, I have never been as prepared as I am this trip. Even bought a tiny little Haier wash machine to do laundry when I boon dock on the beach. I have called the RV park on Baffin Bay and said when I would be there and called NAS in Corpus to make arrangements. Not rich but money wise fine. Money in CD's in a five star bank. I know our "unconscious mind" is stronger than our "conscious". I am going to turn off the TV and quit checking the stock market. I think my biggest fear is that things will go drastically bad and I will be so far from home and not know anyone or be able to get home. I was at Camping World in Rogers, MN yesterday having a new commode installed in Inga and the place was almost empty.....I sat with a nice couple who said they were really afraid. I think I will go outside and fill the water tank and check air pressures. I do so very much love "the trip". Rommel and I meet so many wonderful people. Andrea

Cold feet....in slow motion....

In over twelve years of traveling by self I have always been excited about taking off on a long trip!!!!! I don't know what is wrong.....I have been sipping coffee and staring out the window.....I was supposed to put the last of the food and clothing into Inga this morning and head South to Texas with my dog for the winter. I have been making plans for months....put a couple of thousand into Inga to have her in top running condition, spruced her up with new drapes etc. Now, I feel down in the dumps and I can't figure out why. Suddenly I feel inadequate and not up to the task of the trip. I am full of doubts.....I am usually a strong optomistic person. Anyone else ever had this happen? I should be jumping with joy! Any clues....has this happened to anyone else? Andrea

RE: P-30 454 Exhaust

i looked up what i have and there dynomax HD super tubo mufflers there about 3 ft long and 8 inches around.there made for the high heat of rvs, there in the jegs catalog. I think that is what mine are...they are called Turbo Thrust dynomax from Napa. I love them. Increased the torque. They are also the long. Never had a overheating problem tho before or after. They also sound good ....They were put on in Jan. Price very reasonable. Andrea The shop foreman at garage suggested them as that is what he uses on his vehicle.

RE: Doom and Gloom!

I hope this thread is not shut down. The politics of daily life shown here help me decide on what to do in my RV travels. I live in MN and it is a long trip for my dog and myself to travel to Texas this winter. I trust most of the posters here more than what I read in the newspaper. Because of current events I am now contemplating my plans. I believe politics are very much a part of RVing and effects our everyday experiences.

RE: toilet wont hold water?

In the past years when mine dried out I have lubricated the valve with vasoline or vegtable oil .....not put water in for several days and it would hold water again. They dry out especially with city chlorinated water. Andrea

RE: Help about Winnebago Brave 28 RC Chevy 6.5 Td??

Welcome! I bought a 1995 Winnebago 28 foot new but different motor. The body would be the same. I am sorry to say that I did not think the interior or exterior was solidly made. I have heard many complaints about the 95 and 96 year models. I sold it after 4 years and searched until I found a 1989 Winnebago Chiefton 27ft long that is much more sturdy and with more options. I still have it and plan on keeping it. It is not a motorhome that I would recommend (the one you are looking at). Keep looking as there are many many on the market. A Foretravel is a motorhome that is top of the line. I drool lol thinking of buying one. Good luck, Andrea in Minnesota

RE: water running nonstop in commode

An 89 model is most like an Aqua Magic III if it has a mushroom shaped base. These were unit rusted the mechanism. It may not be worth putting a new mechanism in it. They are over $125 plus labor. A replacement Aqua magic V with a foot flush runs about $170. Decision time! Thanks!!!!! A new one it is!!!! Very helpful info. I am getting ready to head South to Texas so I am still going to try and disconnect the line and dump water in to flush and when I get to a Camping World will pull in and have them do it. (one in Denton, TX just off freeway) Sometimes the labor on new is cheaper. Thanks again, Andrea

RE: water running nonstop in commode

Thanks guys. I can't find model number. It is a 1989 Thetford Aqua-Magic low. I will never be able to install a new kit by myself. (bad neck and arms) I found the water line in the back....could barely get my hands back there. I am going to take a mirror and flashlight and try to see what kind of connection to take line off. That would stop the water running. Then try and figure out a way for a hose and spray. That I think I could do but what a hassel to use so don't want to. I checked for rv repair dealer in the area and no one lists toilet repair. Maybe I should drive to a Camping World and buy a new one ....seems like the installation cost might be cheaper than putting a kit in. Does that take long? Is it the foot pedal area that I take off to put a new kit in? If I had easy access without taking off commode maybe I could try? I am not a quitter by nature.....just don't understand how to do it. Thanks again, Andrea

water running nonstop in commode

If either pump or city water turned on the water in the commode will not stop running. Manual says check for foreign material where valve blade sits in flush hole. None found. Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe disconnecting the water line to the commode and adding an on/off water hose and spray. What do you think? Thanks, Andrea It is a Thetford Aqua-Magic Low

RE: First Year Retirees - Home This Winter, How About You?

I love MN winter.....I just hate it being so long! That feeling of anticipation before "the first big one"!!! Little swirls of air blowing stray leaves.....the sky looking ominous, dark, and foreboding to the West....the air smells "different" and so it goes.........how exciting to be home and retired......run outside with the snow coming down so hard one barely sees the lights of cars on the road. What excitement with the dog running in circles and barking....lol got carried away here...... It is just too long for me....so I go to Texas. Andrea

RE: How many giving up Snowbirding this year?

I am planning on being in the Corpus Christi area part time boondocking on Padre Island and once in awhile in the RV park on NAS. Strange fall here in the twin cities. The acorns have always started to fall by mid Aug and my deck would be covered by Labor Day. None have fallen yet........This is after decades of noticing when they start to fall. Safe travels to all. Andrea
